Many of our MedImage MedTech customers use the free MedTech connector configurations that append photo links into a MedTech32 or MedTech Evolution database. While this option is still currently compatible to use, at least, from MedImage’s perspective, MedTech are introducing a new “Application Programmer’s Interface” or API, called ALEX, that will standardize the way that other applications such as MedImage send information into their MedTech products.
We are providing some notice here to our existing MedTech customers, that there will be a new interfacing configuration file between the MedImage EHR Connector and MedTech (both MedTech32 and Evolution), introduced sometime around Feb 2022. AtomJump, the developers of MedImage, will not be involved in it’s development, since their resources are already committed elsewhere, but the project is being opened up to other partners (and if you would like to contribute, please see below). There will likely be a modest cost involved for both current and new customers in this new ALEX connector add-on (the price is YTBD), given the new development and testing time involved in creating the configuration file. MedTech are not currently providing external software providers with an option to keep the ‘old-style’ connection method, so we do respectively ask that our existing customers can have some understanding, and help contribute to our partner firm’s efforts by purchasing the add-on. This will ensure that MedImage will continue to operate with MedTech well into the future.
For existing installations, once the connection has been built, you should be able to upgrade to the new configuration in the ‘Options > Add-ons’ page of your EHR Connector in your MedImage Server, after a purchase from our partner company. You will not need to reinstall the EHR Connector itself, as that product is vendor neutral, but we would recommend that you prepare for an ‘after-hours’ IT upgrade sometime around Feb 2022.
For developers and partners: there is an opportunity to be involved in building the MedImage > MedTech bridge configuration add-on. We’re interested in hearing from you if you would be able to apply your development skills or testing skills to help build this configuration file. We can put your name forward to our contacts at MedTech, and they can provide full technical details. You can see the full MedImage EHR Connector technical details here.
