MedImage has just won a second award this year for “Best Medical Communications Platform 2023 – New Zealand”, as judged by Global Health and Pharma, in their Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Awards 2023.
We’re humbled to have been recognised for the communications side of our product. Although MedImage is best known as an image transfer app, and we intend to keep that as a core, distinct app, the platform also now includes an open source, full-suite, communications and messaging (web-based) app, with thanks to our sister organisation, the AtomJump Foundation and partner video-conferencing tool, Jitsi. On our website, this is known as the ‘Standard MedImage App’, and if you haven’t tried it yet, or haven’t tried it in a while, it is worth exploring, particularly as updates continue to happen.
In the latest round of updates this week, new features such as
- PDF upload
- Short video clip upload
- Audio clip uploads
- A full complement of emoticons
Have been added. Some of these features have not yet been added to the MedImage Server exporter capability.
While we mention this as a tool to communicate with remote patients, there are also other use-cases in the medical space: e.g. communicating internally with other staff, or chatting in-between different medical facilities. We also have some customers using it as an error reporting tool for the MedImage Professional app and EHR Connector.
Because the software is 100% open source, you are free to download and set up the product for internal use, and optionally make your own enhancements. This internal usage is particularly beneficial in the medical space, from a security standpoint, where remote hacking into online medical services has become a huge issue: keeping software on your local network, only, is a significant step in keeping the majority of potential attackers away.
